Dr. Sachidananda Kamath, former president of IMA Cochin is a well known paediatrician in Cochin. He was the secretary of IAP Disability Group from 2006-2009 and the president of IAP (2012-2013).
Dr. Kamath played a major role in making all primary schools in Cochin as child friendly schools. He is involved in the anti-tobacco movement and one of the respondents for the landmark judgment by the honourable high court banning smoking in public places. He was a key player in the initiative to convert all hospitals of Cochin to Baby friendly status in 1994 and then the Kerala Baby Friendly initiative in 2002. Dr. Kamath was instrumental in making primary schools of Cochin Corporation Child Friendly which was declared by Dr. Abdul Kalam on 18th November 2008.
Dr. Kamath received UNICEF Award for making Kerala first Baby Friendly State. He has successfully completed 25 years of committed service in IAP.
